Schulz and Toffan complete week at Canadian National Jr. Team tryouts

Brooklyn, N.Y. - LIU Brooklyn junior Evan Zerff earned a spot on the initial watch list for the eighth annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, the association announced. The honor is bestowed at the end of the season to the top relief pitcher in all of NCAA Division I baseball.          
 
Zerff, who is one of 45 pitchers selected to the watch list, set both the LIU single-season and career saves mark last season as the Blackbirds finished 28-23 (19-11 Northeast Conference). The righthander notched 13 saves in 24 appearances, giving him 15 for his career. For the season, Zerff compiled a 3-3 record with a 5.60 ERA. In 27 1/3 innings, he struck out 27. The Canadian import  (Regina, Sask) is an owner of a 6-6 mark and a 4.23 ERA during his two-year career.
Geoff MacDonald (2009) has been selected to attend the Allstar showcase in Sacramento California. The Monterey Peninsula sophomore hit .291 and was 3rd in the conference for homeruns in his freshman year in the Pacific Coast Conference Juco Div 1.

Regina's Dustin Molleken (BlueJays 2001) a member of Team Canada , has won a Bronze medal at the IBAF World Championships. Dustin, age 27, pitches AAA in the Colorado Rockies organization.

Canada defeats USA 2-1 . The gold medal is the first gold won at a major international baseball event at the senior level by a Canadian team. Canada won bronze at the IBAF Baseball World Cup in Panama two weeks ago making this team the most successful in Baseball Canada’s history.

This acknowledges the endless hours that the MacDonalds have worked to improve baseball in Saskatchewan.


Jager Toffan of Regina and Jordan Schulz of Strasbourg were selected by Baseball Canada to represent Saskatchewan at the Mizuno Elite Development Camp, to be held September 8th to 10th at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Major League Baseball, Mizuno Canada, the Toronto Blue Jays and Baseball Canada are hosting some of the top 15-and 16-year-old players in Canada.
Players will attend morning workouts on-field at Rogers Centre before heading to the classroom in the afternoon to partake in life skills seminars.


Baseball Regina Players named to Western Canada Summer Games Team

TEAM SASK WINS A SILVER MEDAL AT 2011 BASEBALL CANADA CUP

Congratulations to Team Saskatchewan who proved the critics wrong by winning a SILVER medal at the 2011 Baseball Canada Cup held in Moncton, NB. It was a nail-biting Championship Game with Team Ontario squeeking by Team Sask by a score of 3-2 on a sacrifice fly to win in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Regina's  Jager Toffin was the game MVP in the gold medal game and was selected to the Canada Cup AllStar team.

Baseball Regina was represented on the team by 10 members including;

Brandon Herney, Brandon Radmacher,  Ryan Filyk ,Jordan Schulz, Dave Peters (coach) of the AAA Athletics

Baseball Regina Alumni lead Red Sox to WMBL Championship!

For the first time in franchise history, the Regina Red Sox are the Western Major Baseball League champions.

The team beat the Okotoks Dawgs 7-3 on Saturday to win its best-of-five series three games to one.

The Red Sox got all seven runs in the 6th inning, lead off by an off the wall double by Mitch MacDonald . The Dawgs scored once in the 5th and twice in the 8th in the game played in Seaman Stadium before a sellout crowd of 3,678.

Bantam AAA Pacers Win Bantam Title

The Regina Pacers are the Western Canada Bantam AAA Baseball Champions.

The Pacers won the title Sunday in Winnipeg, defeating the Vancouver Mounties 3-2 in the championship game.

Regina trailed 2-0 before Ryker Toffan belted a game tying, two-RBI double in the fifth inning. Carson Bogdan drove in the third run in the following inning.

Chase Nistor was the winning pitcher, allowing only four hits in 6 1/3 innings. Kade Erickson notched the save after retiring the final two batters. Nistor and Carter Folk added singles.

Nine members of Baseball Regina have been selected to play for Team Saskatchewan at this years Canada Cup to be held. August 10-15 in Moncton New Brunswick.

Regina's Cory Hall won't exactly be giving himself the royal treatment after signing his first Major League contract.    "Nah, it's pretty minimal," said the newest member of the Kansas City Royals organization. Nychuck Signs Scholarship Regina's Justin Nychuk has agreed to a baseball scholarship at Daytona State College, a Division I junior college in Daytona Beach, Fla.  Nychuk is a member of the Regina Mets, who play in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League's midget AAA division. Daytona State had two players from its baseball program drafted this past week in the Major League Baseball amateur draft.

Team Fundraising Opportunity

Pacer Park, one of the facilities used by Baseball Regina, has used bingos at Centennial Bingo to raise funds for park maintenance and upgrading.  The Pacer Board would like to offer your team the opportunity to raise funds for your baseball expenses.  Pacers Baseball Inc. pays a donation to the team that provides volunteers to work a bingo at $40.00/worker for shifts 5:30 pm to 10 pm on Mon to Thursday and 5 pm to 10pm on Fri to Sun.  Pacers Baseball Inc. will pay your team treasurer on a quarterly basis and the funds are to be paid to the individual worker's team account. 

This is an opportunity for ALL Baseball Regina families to help cover their baseball expenses while assisting in the upkeep of Pacer Park

The next bingos are scheduled on March 24th, April 1st, April 29th, May 17th and May 27th.
